THE NEW APPLE-iPad

THE FEATURES OF THE APPLE-ipad:-
SAFARI:-

The large Multi-Touch screen on iPad lets you see web pages as they were meant to be seen — one page at a time. With vibrant color and sharp text. So whether you’re looking at a page in portrait or landscape, you can see everything at a size that’s actually readable. And with iPad, navigating the web has never been easier or more intuitive. Because you use the most natural pointing device there is: your finger. Scroll through a page just by flicking your finger up or down on the screen. Or pinch to zoom in or out on a photo. There’s also a thumbnail view that shows all your open pages in a grid, to let you quickly move from one page to the next.

Mail
See and touch your email in ways you never could before. In landscape, you get a split-screen view showing both an opened email and the messages in your inbox. To see the opened email by itself, turn iPad to portrait, and the email automatically rotates and fills the screen. No matter which orientation you use, you can scroll through your mail, compose a new email using the large, onscreen keyboard, or delete messages with nothing more than a tap and a flick. If someone emails you a photo, you can see it right in the message. You can also save the photos in an email directly to the built-in Photos app. And iPad works with all the most popular email providers, including MobileMe, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail, Hotmail, and AOL.

Photos
With its crisp, vibrant display and unique software features, iPad is an extraordinary way to enjoy and share your photos. For example, the Photos app displays the photos in an album as though they were in a stack. Just tap the stack, and the whole album opens up. From there, you can flip through your pictures, zoom in or out, or watch a slideshow. You can even use your iPad as a beautiful digital photo frame while it’s is docked or charging. And there are lots of ways to import photos: You can sync them from your computer, download them from an email, or import them directly from your camera using the optional Camera Connection Kit.

VIDEO
THE large and high resoultion screens makes ipad perfect for watching any kind of video: from HD movies and TV shows to podcasts and music videos. Switch between widescreen and full screen with a double-tap. Because iPad is essentially one big screen, with no distracting keypad or buttons, you feel completely immersed in whatever you’re watching.

YOU TUBE
The YouTube app organizes videos so they’re easy to see and navigate. To watch one, just tap it. When you’re watching in landscape, the video automatically plays in full screen. And with its high-resolution display, iPad makes the latest HD YouTube videos look positively amazing.

iPod
With the iPod app, all your music is literally at your fingertips. Browse by album, song, artist, or genre with a simple flick. To play a song, just tap it. iPad even displays album art at full size. Listen to your music with the powerful built-in speaker or with wired or Bluetooth wireless headphones.

i-Tunes
A tap of the iTunes store icon lets you browse and buy music, TV shows, and podcasts — or buy and rent movies — wirelessly, right from your iPad. Choose from thousands of movies and TV shows (in both standard and high definition), along with thousands of podcasts and millions of songs. Preview songs before you buy them. Or just sync iPad with the content you already have in your iTunes library on your Mac or PC.

App Store
iPad runs almost 140,000 apps from the App Store. Everything from games to business apps and more. And new apps designed specially for iPad are highlighted, so you can easily find the ones that take full advantage of its features. Just tap the App Store icon on the screen to browse, buy, and download apps wirelessly, right to the iPad.

iBooks
The iBooks app is a great new way to read and buy books.Download the free app from the App Store and buy everything from classics to best sellers from the built-in iBookstore. Once you’ve bought a book, it’s displayed on your Bookshelf. Just tap it to start reading. The high-resolution, LED-backlit screen displays everything in sharp, rich color, so it’s easy to read, even in low light.

Maps
See more of the world with high-resolution satellite and street view images. Even see topography with the new terrain view. You can also search for a nearby business type (“Restaurant,” for example), then tap the business to see the route and directions from your current location.

Notes
With its expansive display and large, onscreen keyboard, iPad makes jotting down notes easy. In landscape view, you see not only a note-taking page but a list of all your notes. iPad even circles the current note in red, so you can see where you are at a glance.

Calendar
iPad makes it easy to stay on schedule by displaying day, week, month, or list views of your calendar. You can see an overview of a whole month or the details of a single day. iPad even shows multiple calendars at once, so you can manage work and family schedules at the same time.

Contacts
The Contacts app on iPad makes finding names, numbers, and other important information quicker and easier than ever before. A new view lets you see both your complete contacts list and a single contact simultaneously. Need directions? Tap an address inside a contact and iPad automatically opens Maps.

Home Screen
The Home Screen gives you one-tap access to everything on iPad. You can customize your Home Screen by adding your favorite apps and websites or using your own photos as the background. And you can move apps around to arrange them in any order you want.

Spotlight Search
Spotlight Search allows you to search across iPad and all of its built-in apps, including Mail, Contacts, Calendar, iPod, and Notes. It even searches apps you’ve downloaded from the App Store. So no matter what you’re looking for, it’s never more than a few taps away.

ABOUT CHENNAI SUPER KINGS

The India Cements has been promoting sports activities for over Four Decades not only as a part of its contribution to society or corporate image building, but also because of the keen interest of the promoters of The India Cements Limited in promoting and developing Indian sports.

The Company and management are involved in the development of Cricket and have been actively promoting and popularizing the game. Mr.K.S.Viswanathan and Dr.G.Natarajan our employees have been elected as Secretary and Joint Secretary respectively of The Tamilnadu Cricket Association (TNCA). Several senior officers have volunteered themselves to assist TNCA in various capacities like Finance, Legal, Umpires to name a few.

The India Cements is promoting Cricket, Squash, Chess, Triathlon and Golf across India to produce talented sportsman of international class.

Cricket

Cricket in particular is an all time favorite of the top management of The India Cements. We have taken immense efforts to promote cricket in all districts of Tamilnadu for the past 3 to 4 decades, which resulted in a strong representation of high quality district cricketers at Ranji level. In order to take cricket to the rural population, The India cements have invested in setting up pitches and stadiums comparable with city level facilities.

Our Commitment to the game

To provide opportunities and facilities to upcoming young talent
To create champions of the future
To maintain the spirit of the game and provide entertainment to the general public

Commitment to Cricket

India Cement's contribution towards cricket is immense especially in the last 5 years even though it has been a pioneer in the support of the game for nearly 4 decades.

The India Cements Limited has a rich history of successful management of Cricket Clubs, sponsorship of various cricket tournaments, contribution to deserving cricketing causes, encouragement of young cricketing talent and fierce commitment to improving the quality and standard of Cricket in our country.

Another commendable initiative is the participation of District Players in the City League. Around 100-150 promising players from the districts inducted into the City Clubs get an opportunity to hone their cricketing skills by playing a higher level of cricket.

Our Participation

India Cements has been an extremely active participant in the TNCA League Championship, one of the most professionally run championships in the country. The extent of its involvement can be gauged from the fact that it has sponsored 12 Cricket Clubs spread over all the five divisions of the TNCA League.

India Cements has also made its presence felt in some of the popular Tamil Nadu Cricket tournaments like the Buchi Babu Memorial Trophy instituted in 1910 and the Hindu Trophy which was inaugurated in 1950. The teams sponsored by India Cements have triumphed in the Buchi Babu Tournament 3 times and have emerged victorious in the Hindu Trophy 11 times.

Fearless rulers have been an intrisic part of Tamil History. The reign of the Chera, Chola Pandya and Pallava dynasties represented the Golden era of Tamil Culture. The kings from their dynasties, fearless warriors in their own right have fought long and hard to establish the supremacy of Tamil rule and expand the Tamil kingdom within the subcontinent and abroad. It is from this rich heritage, that the name Chennai Super Kings draws inspiration. It is only natural that the modern day warriors in the sporting arena would try and replicate the exploits of their ancestors. The addition of the word Super gives the name a young and contemporary feel, which is in keeping with the game format. The 20 twenty as a cricketing format is all about enhanced drama and speed. The format has no scope for half measures, or anything less than a full-spirited war. In a similar fashion, given the mind space that the word "Super" occupies in the Tamil imagination, it enhances the qualities of the word it is prefixed to. Super Kings then is not just about royalty, but about absolute monarchy.

The Logo
The logo is inspired by popular folk-lore which holds that the lion is the king of the jungle. It is therefore a logical extension to use the same for the lords of the pitch as well!. The illustration of the lion using a minimalist style offers a sense of youth and vibrancy. This is complemented by the heavier lettering for Chennai Super Kings representing solid and sturdy performance orientation. The team colours are yellow and blue. Yellow stands for the firey spirit that burns in the team's belly. The constant urge to keep the fire of Tamil spirt burning. Blue represents infinity, as one of the oldest cultures in the world and yet, is also one of the most forward looking. The team will only have to seek within to reach dizzying heights of success.

IPL-III to begin on March 12

The third edition of the Indian Premier League will begin on March 12 in Hyderabad, the BCCI announced on Thursday.

The final will be held at the D Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on April 25.

"The matches are going to kickoff in Hyderabad on March 12. The third place match will be held at D Y Patil stadium on April 24, while the final will also be held at the D Y Patil stadium on April 25," IPL Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi said after the IPL Governing Council's meeting.

The semi-finals will be held at Bangalore, he added.

Modi said two new franchisees will be added to the current tally of eight teams from the fourth season of the IPL in 2011.

"There will be two new franchisees with a minimum bid price of USD 225 million. They will come into operation in 2011. We will follow the same process for the new teams as during the first auction," he said.

Modi announced that the auction for the fourth IPL would be held between the third and fourth quarter next year.

"The auction for 2011 onwards for the teams will take place sometime between the third and fourth quarter of 2010 after season three of the IPL and probably after the 2010 edition of the Champions League because we don't want too many changes in the teams during the Champions League," he said.

"The current franchisees will be able to keep a certain number of players. The modalities are being worked out and we will announce that shortly," he added.

Modi said the IPL governing council has decided to remove the rule that restricted a franchisee from having more than two Australian players in their ranks.

"There was a restriction being imposed on having two Australian players in a team. The governing council has removed those restrictions," he said.

Modi indicated that few players had been traded by the franchisees in the ongoing trading period.

"As you know trading is to finish day after tomorrow. Few trades have taken place. We will announce that as soon as the trading is finished," he said.

On the participation of Pakistani players in the next season of IPL, Modi said, "Unfortunately the trading window began, they could not participate in it. There is auction window coming up and the Pakistani players will be put up at the auction."

The auction has been announced on January 19, with the upper limit being decided at USD 7,50,000 by the governing council, he said.

Modi will remain IPL Chairman till 2012

Scotching speculations that a move is afoot to oust IPL Chairman Lalit Modi from the post, the BCCI has said he is doing an excellent job as the IPL chief and will continue till 2012.

"Somebody's fertile brain came up with the idea that Modi is being removed as the IPL Chairman and a conspiracy is being hatched among myself, my secretary and treasurer and Farooq Abdullah," BCCI President Shashank Manohar said after the IPL Governing Council's meeting.

"I am very sorry to say that the picture being painted by the media people in their news reports and in their channels are absolutely baseless and false.

"Lalit Modi is doing an excellent job as the IPL Chairman and Commissioner. He is appointed by the general body till 2012 and there is no reason or power or authority in either of us to remove Modi," he said.

"There has to be some continuity and I want to make it clear that Modi will remain in the post till 2012 and nobody can remove him from that," Manohar added.

Modi's future as the Chairman-cum-Commissioner of the IPL looked uncertain after reports surfaced that key BCCI officials, including secretary N Srinivasan, were plotting to oust him from the management of the Twenty20 extravaganza which is considered his brainchild.

Manohar's clarification, however, puts an end to all those surmises and makes it clear that Modi's job is safe till 2012

Telangana Forum threatens IPL

The Telangana Research Scholars' Forum threatened to disrupt the IPL matches in Hyderabad.

The Telangana Research Scholars' Forum alleged that the mega-event during March and April would divert attention from the movement for a separate state.

"The people of Telangana are agitated about the separate state demand. The IPL tournament would divert attention from the ongoing agitation.

IPL opener shifted to Mumbai

"Moreover, Telangana players are not encouraged in cricket though the Hyderabad Cricket Association was founded several decades ago. Only the children of business people are being promoted. We protest this," R Rudra Reddy, a member of the Forum, said.

Betting on cricket matches is also taking place which is nothing but looting of the money of Telangana people, he alleged. Rudra Reddy said they can disrupt the matches in Hyderabad to register their protest.

The inaugural function of the IPL-III was planned to be held at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium but was shifted to Mumbai after Telangana supporters had disrupted a Twenty20 match.

Representatives of the IPL team Deccan Chargers have met TRS leaders and all-party Joint Action Committee (JAC),spearheading the Telangana movement, to seek their cooperation for conducting the IPL matches in Hyderabad and they have assured that there would not be any trouble from their side.

TRS assures Chargers of smooth run

The Deccan Chargers have sought the cooperation of regional outfit TRS for the smooth conduct of the IPL in Hyderabad.

The IPL franchise is concerned that the ongoing Telangana agitation might disturb the third edition of the Indian Premier League.

"We have assured them all help from our side in conducting the event," sources in the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) said.

TRS would also ask the all-party Joint Action Committee (JAC), formed to spearhead the Telangana agitation, to assure its help to the organisers of IPL-III, they said.

A Twenty20 cricket match being organised at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad was cancelled on January 21 after Telangana supporters forced their way into the ground. The match was part of the Deccan T20 Cup, organised by the Deccan Chronicle, owners of Deccan Chargers, and the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

A day after the incident, IPL shifted the first match and the opening ceremony to Mumbai from Hyderabad.

"It remains a Deccan Chargers vs Kolkata Knight Riders match but instead of Hyderabad, it would be held in Mumbai.

"The opening game, the opening ceremony and the opening gala dinner (on March 11) are very important for us.

People from all over the world are coming and we are going to make sure that everything is in order. We don't want to take any chances," IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi said on January 22.

The IPL opener is scheduled on March 12.

Later, the IPL representatives met JAC Convener Prof C Kodandaram over the matter.

"I have told them that there will not be any problem from our side," Kodandaram told PTI.

"I have also told them that an international conference on paediatrics was held recently in Hyderabad without any problem," he said.

Meanwhile, the JAC Convener has called for hoisting Telangana flags at the JAC camps in the region on the occasion of Republic Day to symbolically express their demand for a separate state.

Kings XI Punjab appoints new GM

Indian Premier League franchise outfit Kings XI Punjab has roped in Chandrabhan Tiwari as its new General Manager (Marketing).

Tiwari has joined the IPL franchise from Silvol India, where he was Vice-president of sales and marketing, a media release said on Wednesday.

At KXIP he will be responsible for planning and execution of all the marketing activities and promotions at a regional, national and international level, it said.

"I really look forward to grow and cement Kings XI Punjab's leadership in the cricket domain and build a huge fan base of KXIP loyalists through various innovative promotions and initiatives intended for cricket lovers in India," Tiwari said about his new assignment.

The franchise is owned by a consortium that includes industrialists Mohit Burman and Ness Wadia and leading Bollywood actor Preity Zinta.

Not interested in the IPL says AFRIDI

In a virtual u-turn, flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi made it clear that he was "not interested" in taking part in the IPL.

And he also added that mere apologies could not compensate the humiliation the Pakistani cricketers faced in the auction.

A day after a website had quoted Afridi as saying he has gotten over the anger at being "snubbed" in the Indian Premier League auction and was open to play in the Twenty20 event in future, the star cricketer on Wednesday took a different and more strident stand on his availability.

Afridi ready to 'forget' IPL auction

"I am not at all interested in taking part in the IPL. These issues of Pakistani cricketers should have been sorted out before the auction," Afridi told PTI-Bhasha.

"I have forgotten what happened in the IPL auction in Mumbai. But everybody in Pakistan is very disappointed and angry with the insult. So good luck to Modi and his IPL," Afridi said.

All the 11 Pakistani players in the 67-strong pool went unsold in the glitzy auction in Mumbai on January 19, prompting angry reactions from Pakistan.

"Mere apology can't compensate the humiliation Pakistan cricketers faced in the auction, where the cricketers were called," Afridi said.

Afridi was also of the view that Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram's statements have only vindicated Pakistan's claim that their players were insulted.

"The statements of Shah Rukh Khan and Chidambaram have confirmed that the Pakistani cricketers were not treated properly in the auction," he said.

SRK: Wanted to recruit Pak players

"I am not talking about myself only, but I think, all were left insulted after the incident. The IPL franchises must have had something in their minds," he added.

Asked whether politics had played any role in the non-selection of the Pakistani cricketers, Afridi said, "There is lot of politics in sports in both the countries."

"When the bilateral relation between the two countries are not good, how do you expect sports to flourish?" he asked.

Afridi had only on Tuesday told a website that if an opportunity came his way, he would like to play in India in the Champions League or IPL in future provided he gets the government's go ahead.

The all-rounder had said he was guided by the teachings of Holy Prophet and willing to forget and forgive what happened in the IPL.

"After the IPL auction I was deeply hurt and angry, the way Pakistani players were treated was disrespectful and in my view wrong. Whose fault it was..I don't know," he had said.

Jackson, Lisa Marie marriage certificate sold for $70,800

Pop star Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley's marriage certificate has been sold for $70,800 at an auction.

The document, which boasts both stars' signatures, was issued to the couple following a 15-minute ceremony on May 26 in 1994 in the Dominican Republic, reported contactmusic.com.

It went under the hammer on Saturday with an opening price of $27,000 and quickly sparked a bidding war as two collectors vied for the item, racking up 20 offers between them.

'My wife and I have been collecting autographs and memorabilia since 1973. Several years ago, we were outbid on the marriage certificate signed by Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller and I did not want to miss the chance to own this one. We were very excited,' the anonymous winner said.

The King of Pop's highly-publicised marriage with Elvis Presley's daughter lasted for two years.

Priyanka,Ranbir to meet Sylvester Stallone

sa
Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor, who are shooting for 'Anjaana Anjaani', are set to meet Rocky-Rambo superstar Sylvester Stallone.

In fact, one of the temptations for them to do Sajid Nadiadwala's 'Anjaana Anjaani' was that the producer was a friend of Stallone who featured in his last film 'Kambakkht Ishq'.

'Ranbir and Priyanka definitely want to meet him. I'm flying down to Las Vegas to join them on January 27. We'll be meeting Stallone on the 4th or 5th of February,' Nadiadwala told IANS.

Earlier, Nadiadwala had taken Saif Ali Khan to meet Stallone in Los Angeles.

Sajid and his son Subhaan were supposed to meet Stallone during the New Year. But the actor injured his neck and the appointment was cancelled. Now a new date is being worked out.

And Priyanka and Ranbir insist on accompanying their producer for the meeting.

'I think Ranbir and Priyanka will kill me if I go without them to see Sly. We'll all be driving down from Las Vegas, where Ranbir and Priyanka are shooting, to Los Angeles to meet Stallone. It's a two-three hour drive,' said Sajid.

Ranbir, a big Stallone fan, owns a series of Rocky teeshirts. He intends to get a couple of them signed by the star.

Anurag Basu Looks For a Heroine for Hrithik

Director Anurag Basu, who will be directing Hrithik Roshan in an action-romance, is looking for a new leading lady for his film. This will make it the actor's first female debutante co-star after Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, where he made his debit along with Amisha Patel seven years ago.

According to Basu, the theme is such that they need a fresh face. Only if they do not find a suitable debutante will they opt for an established actress. The film will be produced by Rakesh Roshan. The father and son duo apparently saw Metro and like the film a lot and decided to approach Basu to direct a film for them. Basu really shot to fame with his film, Gangster, which saw leading lady Kangana Ranaut making her debut. Basu concedes that he may not be so lucky a second time round in finding a new leading lady but remains hopeful. But he extremely happy working with Hrithik and Rakesh, who he says, are absolutely non-interfering. The added bonus for Basu is that he will also be working with music director Rajesh Roshan as well for this yet-untitled film. Basu is a great fan of the composer and is thrilled about this opportunity. The director who has not had any release since Metro, feels it is now time to get back to wielding the megaphone. The Hrithik starrer should hit the floors by the middle of this year. The director is also scripting a film for UTV., has for now decided to keep the sequel to Metro on the back-burner.

Barbara Mori is Hrithik's leading lady in KITES

Rakesh Roshan signs the top Latin actress Barbara Mori as the leading lady of his upcoming film KITES opposite Hrithik Roshan.

The film also stars Kangana Ranaut and is set to be directed by Anurag Basu along with the amazing musical composition by Rajesh Roshan. The remaining cast and credits are currently being finalized. The casting is taking place in Bombay and Los Angeles.

KITES is to be shot in New Mexico, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The film is yet another Film Kraft Production's presentation and is scheduled to go into production by the end of July 2008.

Hrithik Roshan impresses Barbara Mori!

Though Hrithik Roshan's latest heroine, the Mexican beauty Barbara Mori, is yet to meet the superhero, Hrithik Roshan, his work has already impressed her. Barbara has seen a number of his films and finds Hrithik a very good actor.
As per Hrithik's dad, producer-director Rakesh Roshan, he had met Barbara Mori in America last month. During a three day period Roshan Sr., accompanied by director Anurag Basu, had a series of meetings with Barbara. He narrated the story of his proposed film (tentatively titled KITES) and also told her in detail about the Hindi film industry and its functioning.

As maybe recalled, Rakesh Roshan has recently signed international actress Barbara Mori, opposite his son Hrithik Roshan, for a project to be directed by the talented director Anurag Basu, who has given successful and well made films like MURDER, GANGSTER and METRO. This is for the first time that Anurag Basu will direct a film under the Filmkraft banner and the project is already in the news for its unique pairing of Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori.

KITES SPECIAL

It seems Hrithik Roshan and Barbara Mori are more than just co-stars. Now, it's known that the Spanish speaking beauty was literally handicapped during the shoot of KITES for not being able grasp her directors English and finally it was her co-star Hrithik Roshan who bailed her out of the difficulty.
It's learnt that Barbara Mori could not understand Anurag Basu's diction while explaining any particular scene and the actress would finally depend on her co-stars interpretation instead.

Well, we wonder if Hrithik actually enjoyed this additional responsibility on the sets besides playing the main lead.

Guzaarish TOPICS

Very verrrrry sorry… about Mori, that's exactly what Hrithik Roshan is reported to have told his spouse Suzanne. But insiders squeal that wifey dearest is not taking any chances after Roshan Jr's alleged amorous link with Barbara Mori was splashed all over tabloids.

The increased personal scrutiny over her husband has been tightened. And those in the know say that Mrs Roshan is kept abreast of every single move of her celeb hubby. The sharp gaze, though, is taking it's toll on Hrithik who feels like he's under a scanner 24 x7.

Reportedly, he's taken to smoking some more ciggies and gulping down a little booze to spur his spirits. Pity…. Suzanne isn't feeling the cheer of his beer.

Relax the stronghold, Suzanne. Just our 'Guzaarish'.
